Optimum Announces Enhancement Grant Recipients Through the Coalition to Back Black Businesses
As part of Optimum’s continued partnership with the Coalition to Back Black Businesses (CBBB), a multi-year initiative to support Black-owned businesses and the communities they serve, the company is thrilled to announce that two businesses across its service area will each receive a $25,000 enhancement grant. These enhancement grants, which are being delivered to provide the Black business community with resources, funds, and mentorship opportunities, follow the $5,000 grants that Optimum distributed to 52 small businesses this past February.
This year’s enhancement grant recipients are:
- Bushwick Grind, LLC in Brooklyn, New York: Bushwick Grind Café, owned by Kymme Williams-Davis, is a specialty coffee shop and full-service cafe offering healthier food options in an area overly saturated with fast food restaurants. They are obsessed with the wellness and enrichment of their community and participate in a number of initiatives toward those goals.
- The Bread and Butter Shoppe in Greenwood, Mississippi: The Bread and Butter Shoppe, owned by Valour Cobbins, is located in the Mississippi Delta serving gourmet sandwiches, wraps, salads, smoothies, fresh juices, wellness shots, milk teas, and much more.
“Optimum is proud to continue its rewarding partnership with the CBBB by honoring two small businesses with enhancement grants that will further assist in their long-term success,” said Jen Ostrager, Senior Vice President of Community Affairs at Optimum. “Small businesses are critical for consumers across the country as their contributions have a lasting impact on local communities. On behalf of Optimum, we congratulate Kymme and Valour on being this year’s enhancement grant recipients and look forward to watching their businesses succeed.”
Since announcing the 52 CBBB grant recipients earlier this year, Optimum has celebrated and honored the businesses across its footprint by promoting them on Optimum’s social media channels and hosting a variety of recognition events, with local officials joining in on the celebrations to amplify the businesses’ impact on their communities.
Optimum has partnered with the CBBB since the program launched in 2020, providing funding along with mentorship and other resources to 235 black-owned businesses to date to further support their growth, resilience, and long-term success.
