Study Reveals that Majority of Americans are Satisfied with Their Internet Speed and Overall Service

Two-thirds of Consumers are Satisfied with their Internet Service in a Survey From Optimum

One-third of Americans have Increased their Internet Usage in the Last Year – Averaging more than 10 Hours a Day

NEW YORK (July 30, 2025) – A new national survey conducted on behalf of Optimum uncovers that two-thirds of Americans are extremely or very satisfied with their internet service provider (ISP) overall.1 What’s more, one-third of consumers have increased their internet usage in the last year – averaging more than ten hours a day online.

If you, too, are satisfied with your internet service, but are not sure what internet speed you currently pay for – you’re not alone.

The survey found that nearly half of Americans are unsure of what internet speed they have, yet 80% think their current speed is sufficient, indicating that customer satisfaction is more closely linked to the overall connectivity experience rather than an understanding of technical details. Awareness of internet speeds also varies significantly by age group. Nearly half of Americans aged 55 and older do not know their internet speed, compared to less than 30% of younger Americans aged 18 to 39.

At the end of the day, what do Americans want from their ISP when it comes to their internet service? Affordability, value, and reliability.

"Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this survey underscores the need for us to keep pushing ourselves to deliver an even better, more reliable connectivity experience for them. At Optimum, we are not taking our foot off the gas,” said Eric Bruno, Senior Vice President of Product Management at Optimum. “Our teams are continuously evolving our products and services to set a new standard of excellence for our customers – from award-winning fiber internet to nationwide 5G mobile coverage, new TV offerings and more.
