Altice USA Continues Support of Small Black-Owned Businesses with $25,000 Enhancement Grants

Altice USA has been a proud partner of the Coalition to Back Black Businesses (CBBB) since it launched in the fall of 2020. The Coalition to Back Black Businesses is a multi-year grantmaking and training initiative aimed at helping help support Black-owned small businesses as they recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and chart a path forward. Through the Coalition, Altice USA, American Express, AIG Foundation, Cummins, Dow, Stanley Black and Decker, the National Black Chamber of Commerce, National Business League, U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., Walker’s Legacy, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation partner together to provide grants, training, and resources to Black-owned small businesses. Over the course of the next few years, over $13 million in resources will be provided.

In the fall of 2020, the CBBB kicked off the multi-year initiative with its first round of $5,000 grants to businesses across the country. Following these grants, partners of the program like us, had the opportunity to provide mentorship to some of these businesses in areas like human resources, business development, marketing and more. You can check out more details on the mentorship program and Altice’s involvement here.

This summer, the first round of enhancement grants was announced.  The enhancement grants provided an additional $25,000 to 25 of the initial 2020 grant and mentorship recipients to further support these businesses’ resilience and long-term success. Altice USA is proud to have provided the funding for five of the enhancement grants for Black-owned small businesses in our footprint. These businesses include the Alexandria Primary Care Clinic, Elk City Auto Spa, L&R Human Resource Consulting, Tonnie’s Minis and Julia Lynn Productions.

The CBBB mission is directly in line with the ways that Altice USA looks to provide assistance and connectivity for our customers and communities. This initiative will have a real and lasting impact for businesses at a time when it is needed most. We are thrilled to be a partner and excited to see how this initiative will assist Black-owned businesses emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.

On September 14th applications for the second cohort of funding opened up. Applications will be open until September 22nd for businesses to apply for $5,000 grants. We are thrilled to continue to support the growth and long-term success of Black-owned small businesses in our communities and we can’t wait to connect with the recipients of this year’s cohort.
